Dental prosthetics

A veneer is a thin ceramic overlay on the front surface of a tooth. It covers chips, discolouration and small gaps, and changes the shape and length of the tooth.

Prosthodontics starts with the bite. If the joint and the occlusion work incorrectly, even a flawlessly made crown will chip. That is why prosthodontics and gnathology are in the same hands here.

How long do crowns last?

Modern crowns typically last 10 to 20 years or more. Longevity depends on the material, quality of manufacture, oral hygiene, gum condition and regular check-ups.

Which is better: a crown or an implant?

These methods solve different problems. If the root is intact and can be restored, a crown is usually placed. If the tooth is completely lost, an implant is the optimal solution. The final choice depends on the clinical situation and diagnostics.

Can a badly damaged tooth be saved?

In many cases, yes. Modern dentistry can restore badly damaged teeth with inlays, posts, crowns or endodontic treatment. If restoration is not possible, the doctor will suggest the best replacement option, such as an implant.
